Hey, you. It’s been a while! I took a blogging break to prepare for my finals and I’m happy to say that I survived! I’m back home in Memphis and back on the Beauty Trickster train. Christmas is next week, which means I’m also back in the saddle as my family’s personal elf. Basically, I’m the chief executive shopper, party planner, photographer, and gift-wrapper. I don’t mind however, because there are two things I’m kind of amazing at: shopping for others, and shopping for myself.
This post has the perfect gift ideas for every beauty-lover in your life. A friend who likes to travel? Check. A niece who wants the latest products? Got it. A sister who knows too much about makeup? Uh-huh. A girlfriend who only wants the basics? Yep. What about your daughter and her expensive hair habits? Yes ma’am! Or…are you just shopping for yourself? Don’t lie. I do it too.
Just sit back, keep reading, and get your wallet ready.
Gifts for the Jet Setter
Travel Hair Appliances
Traveling can be stressful for someone who needs multiple hair appliances along with her full arsenal of hair products. Make the packing process a little easier and much lighter with a travel-sized blow dryer or mini straightener.
Travel Makeup Brush Set
Gifts for the Trend Setter
New EOS Crystal Lip Balm
These balms are the new and improved version of our favorite egg-shaped lip products. Now they’re crystal clear and wax-free!
New Stunna Lip Paint by Fenty
Rihanna just released her first lipstick last month for Black Friday. It’s a “perfect universal red” designed to complement every skin-tone in the spectrum, much like her extensive foundation line. If it works on everyone, it should definitely work for your gift recipient!
New Glossier You Eau de Parfum
Glossier’s first fragrance is kind of a BFD. It has heavy base notes so that it sinks in to emphasize your natural scent (sounds weird but trust me on this one). It’s currently sitting under my tree with my name on it, so I promise: it’s some kind of wonderful.
New NAKED Heat Palette by Urban Decay
Okay so this palette launched in July but I’m calling it “new” anyways because odds are she doesn’t have it yet! Red-hot eye shadow is all you can see on Instagram these days. Give her the latest and greatest Urban Decay NAKED Palette so she can spice up her makeup routine.
Gifts for the Makeup Guru
All hail whoever was smart enough to create things to hold other things. If you’re shopping for a beauty enthusiast, odds are she may need an organizer more than she needs new products! Help out her bathroom counter with a countertop organizer or travel train case! Brownie points if you have an Amazon Prime membership because there are some amazing organizers on there!
Beauty Gift card
If she’s a true beauty guru, she already knows exactly what she wants. Trust me on this one. If you’re feeling a little unsure, skip the guesswork and give her a gift card from Sephora, Ulta, or anywhere she loves to shop.
Makeup Brush Set
I collect makeup brushes like they’re going out of style. Sadly, I’m always buying more because people keep thinking of ways to make them better and better! When it comes to brushes, it’s best to buy synthetic bristles. Not only do they last longer than real hair, but they’re cruelty free! These oval brushes are blowing up on social media, and this eye shadow brush set was a big hit when I gave it to my friends this Christmas!
Gifts for the Minimalist
NAKED Basics Eyeshadow Palettes by Urban Decay
Urban Decay NAKED palettes are practically worshipped in the beauty world. If you’re shopping for a minimalist, you can’t go wrong with their smaller palettes like NAKED Basics, NAKED Basics2, or NAKED Ultimate Basics (which will be in my stocking this year).
Nail polish is like the candle of the beauty world—you can’t go wrong giving it as a gift. Some of my favorite brands are OPI, Butter London, Essie, and Deborah Lippmann. Try looking for a nail polish gift set. They’re cute, colorful, and fun-sized!
Beauty Subscription Box
Beauty boxes are great for learning about and testing out new products. I love Petit Vour since it’s cruelty-free, but other great options include makeup boxes like Ipsy and Birchbox, or lifestyle boxes like FabFitFun!
Inkbox Long-Lasting Temporary Tattoos
If your minimalist isn’t into makeup, don’t worry! Inkbox created these foolproof (and in my opinion, magical) temporary tattoos that last over 2 weeks! Order one, or give her a gift card so she can pick her own design. I love this one with a map of the world, and I’ve even had luck using their freehand ink.
Gifts for the Hair Goddess
Professional Blow Dryer
If you only remember one thing from this post, remember this: professional blow dryers are honest-to-god one of the most overlooked beauty tools out there that can change your life. Professional dryers are made for hairdressers who use them all-day, so they are lighter, quieter, stronger, and last longer than the Conair one you’ve been using since 10th grade. Though they can be a bit pricey on the front end, these blow dryers are a smart investment that can decrease your drying time, put less strain on your arms, and even protect your hearing (seriously. They don’t have the high frequency sounds that can cause long-term hearing damage). My favorites are anything from T3 or Theorie.
Custom Shampoo and Conditioner from Function of
This hair care company lets you create your own custom shampoo and conditioner, choosing everything from the color to the hair benefits. You even put your name on the bottle! Like, is that genius or what? Give her an online gift card for a foolproof present.
Phew. That was a lot. I think I broke Google with all my product research. Now you have all the tools you need to find the perfect gift she’ll love, and to stop the sad cycle of Starbucks gift cards.
In your shopping craze, don’t forget the true gift of this holiday season. Spend time with your family, drink lots of hot chocolate and relax!
Ho-ho-hope I don’t get Walmart gift cards this year,
